Mike Noteware

About me: I’ve been an employee of the Oklahoma State Athletic Department as either a student or full-time staffer since 1991. I spent more than 23 years in the media relations office before moving into the academic center. My wife, Susan, and I married in July of 2008. We have a yellow lab, Wyatt.

Hometown: Tulsa, Okla.

High School: Booker T. Washington HS

Education: BS in Statistics with minors in Business Administration and Spanish (Oklahoma State, ’93); IT Certification (OSU-OKC, ’16)

Hobbies: playing golf, gambling (casinos, not sports betting)

Favorite music: rock, heavy metal, old-school rap

Favorite movie: All movies in the Star Wars saga

Favorite book: I don’t know if there’s any book I’ve ever read more than once, but ones that I’ve enjoyed include: the Harry Potter series; the Old Republic era stories from Star Wars; "The Grapes of Wrath"; "Riding With the Blue Moth"

Favorite quote: “Procrastination on your part does NOT constitute an emergency on mine.”

Something not everyone knows about you: I have two tattoos … the one on my left shoulder is an image of my father’s patrol badge; the one on my right shoulder is a tribute to four of my good friends who died in the plane crash on Jan. 27, 2001.

Best advice for college students: Treat college like a job. Spend your day from 8-5 going to class and studying. If you do that, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy college life as well.

Favorite OSU memory: There are a lot of them, some that are not allowed in print. The best time period while I’ve been here was probably from December of 2003 until May of 2004. During that short six-month period, the Cowboy Football team played in the Cotton Bowl, the Cowboy Basketball team went to the Final Four, the Cowboy Wrestling team won the National Championship, and the Cowgirl Golf team finished second at the NCAA Tournament. Oh yeah, and I also met my future wife.
